Pennsylvania Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato said Monday that he is sending Republican opponent Tom Corbett a letter requesting 14 debates between August and the Nov. 2 election.
Onorato, the Allegheny County Executive, told reporters on a conference call that the debates will provide voters with the essential information they need to make a decision on Election Day.
He said he would like at least two debates in each of the state’s media markets and said they should be organized by nonpartisan groups. He said he is open to a variety of debate formats and topics.
