LITTLE ROCK – State Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Tuesday rejected the popular name and ballot title of a proposed constitutional amendment to set term limits for elected city and county officials.Frederick N. Scott of Maumelle, who identifies himself as sponsor of the Little Red Hen Committee, submitted the proposal to McDaniel. Scott submitted a similar proposal that was rejected by then-Attorney General Mike Beebe in June 2006.
Scott’s latest proposal would amend the state constitution to limit city and county offices that are “legislative in nature” to three two-year terms. Offices that are “largely administrative in nature” would be limited to two four-year terms.
