5 Republicans and 4 Democrats filed for lieutenant governor to replace Barbara Lawton.
State Assembly Majority Leader Tom Nelson is among the Democratic filers, along with Senator Spencer Coggs of Milwaukee, Henry Sanders of Madison, and James Schneider of Gotham.
The Republicans who filed are Assembly Republican Brett Davis of Oregon, Rebecca Kleefisch of Oconomowoc, Superior Mayor Dave Ross, Nick Voegeli of Sun Prairie, and former U.S. Senate candidate Robert Lorge of Bear Creek.
Libertarian Terry Virgil of Johnson Creek also filed. State Senate Republican Glenn Grothman of West Bend considered a last-minute bid, but decided against it.
