All but three members of the Bronx delegation to the state Assembly have formally requested hearings – some possibly with subpoena power – to investigate the stunning cost overruns on the water filtration plant being built under Van Cortlandt Park.The majority of the borough’s 11 Assembly members signed onto a blitz of letters sent to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, state Controller Thomas DiNapoli and all three local congressmen – demanding probes into the overruns, which have nearly tripled the expected cost of the multibillion-dollar project.
