For two reasons – the legislative races, in particular the state senate which could either go from Democrat controlled to tied, or Republican controlled, depending on a handful of races.
If it goes into the tied column, the Lt. Governor’s race between Republican Todd Hiett, former Oklahoma House Speaker, and Jari Askins, assistant House Minority Leader, will carry much more weight since the L.G. in Oklahoma – while bereft of most constitutional authority – does have the tie breaking vote in the Senate when the need arises.
Oklahoma will be a BIG state to watch this year.
