Looks another installment of Profiles in Courage for Democrats in New Jersey. If they really wanted to take a stand on principle they could have very easily voted on this issue before the legislative elections – much as Governor Corzine could’ve unveiled his toll road plan BEFORE the election. But, had they and he done that – maybe the New Jersey legislature would look significantly different. Score a political point for the blue team.
IT LOOKS LIKE New Jersey will soon become the first state to abolish the death penalty by legislative enactment.A week from tomorrow the Assembly Judiciary Committee is to vote on an abolition bill. The Assembly speaker is sufficiently confident of the outcome that he has already scheduled action by the full chamber the following week.
