New York City Mayor Conducts Investigation in Nashville
Last Updated on Thursday, 8 October 2009 01:50 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 8 October 2009 01:50
From NewsChannel5.com:
Tennessee’s Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey said that will not happen here.
“This is not a so called loophole, its legitimately in the law that it one individual wants to sell their firearms to another individual, you do not have to have a federal firearms license to do that, and that’s what they are trying to do, and it’s a farce to be honest,” said Ramsey. “Obviously the gun sales between individuals shouldn’t be regulated by the federal government or any other government entity for that matter.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said about 30 percent of guns involved in federal illegal gun trafficking investigations are connected in some way to gun shows.

VA: New Poll Has Republicans Up by Double Digits
Last Updated on Tuesday, 6 October 2009 12:30 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 6 October 2009 12:30
From the Examiner:
A new SurveyUSA poll puts three Republicans ahead by double digits in their November races.
Bob McDonnell currently leads Democrat Creigh Deeds by an average of 11 points, 54 to 43 percent.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling is ahead of Jody Wagner 57 to 40 percent, a sizable 17-point lead.
And state Sen. Ken Cuccinelli is up on Steve Shannon, 53 to 43 percent.
If these races go according to script — a big if with a month left to go — the Republican Party will be rejoicing in the Old Dominion come November. www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx
The Democrats appear to be hurt by the reeling economy and the lack of impetus from the federal bailout bills.

SD: Lt. Governor Announces Run for Governor
Last Updated on Monday, 5 October 2009 03:09 Written by rslcpol Monday, 5 October 2009 03:09
From The Business Insider:
South Dakota Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced Monday he was running for the 2010 Republican nomination for governor, saying he has the political and business experience the state needs to weather tough economic times.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters in a barn on the farm where his grandparents settled in 1911, Daugaard said his six years as a state senator and seven years as lieutenant governor gave him the political know-how to run the state. His ten years in banking and 20 years leading the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota taught him how to lead people, make payroll, erase debts and build savings, he said.
“As I stand in the same place I did as a child I stand here with a lifetime of experience that makes me ready to lead this state,” he told supporters.

NV: Lt. Governor Says Worst may be Over for State’s Economy
Last Updated on Thursday, 1 October 2009 01:37 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 1 October 2009 01:37
From Lahontan Valley News:
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki told an audience of business leaders Wednesday that while the recession has been harder on Nevada than other states, there are signs the worst may be over.
The state that led the nation in population growth 20 of the past 21 years, he said, will actually lose population this year. Nevada leads the nation in foreclosures and has the second highest unemployment rate. Visitor volume, which has been about 50 million a year was down 12 percent this past year, he said.
“It feels like somebody punched the emergency stop button and the economy came to a screeching halt,” Krolicki said.
But he said things are beginning to turn around.
