From Rapid City Journal:
“I’m honored to be selected by my fellow lieutenant governors to serve in this leadership role,” Daugaard said. “The NLGA has been a great resource for me.”
Daugaard was elected to state office in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. He is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2010 gubernatorial race.
“Lt. Gov. Daugaard has been a valued member of the association,” chairman Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling said. “He has supported the association’s work in a number of important ways, and he has contributed a great deal to our deliberations by sharing with us the impressive work he has done in South Dakota.”

RSLC: BATTLEGROUND VIRGINIA
Last Updated on Monday, 14 September 2009 01:50 Written by rslcpol Monday, 14 September 2009 01:44
For IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 14, 2009
– RSLC CONTRIBUTING NEARLY $250,000 TO VIRGINIA ELECTIONS –
ALEXANDRIA, VA – With the Virginia campaigns in full swing, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC), the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders, today contributed over $90,000 to the Republican Party of Virginia and Dr. Chris Stolle, candidate for the 83rd House District. This brings the total contributions for the RSLC in Virginia to nearly $250,000 so far this election cycle.
“Virginians have had enough of the overreaching of the Democratic policies coming out of Washington. Individuals want government leaders who will get the economy back on track by limiting spending and proposing commonsense, conservative solutions to the issues we are facing today,” said Scott Ward, President of the Republican State Leadership Committee. “We believe that the Republican candidates are well-positioned for victory in November because they understand the private sector, not the public sector, will create the road to recovery and keep Virginia competitive.”
Texas Lt. Governor Dewhurst Announces Re-election Bid
Last Updated on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 12:52 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 9 September 2009 12:52
From Texas Politics:
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst today sent out a letter to supporters announcing he is running for re-election in 2010.
Dewhurst, of course, can change directions between now and the Jan. 4 filing deadline if U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison resigns from office and a Senate special election is in the offing.
But Dewhurst’s decision for the moment may freeze the Republicans below him into place. Attorney General Greg Abbott had been considering a run for lieutenant governor if Dewhurst vacated the post. It is unclear what he will do now.
Keep reading below to see Dewhurst’s letter.

Mass. Former Lt. Governor Decides Against Senate Race
Last Updated on Tuesday, 8 September 2009 10:56 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 8 September 2009 10:56
From the Boston Herald:
BOSTON — A former Massachusetts lieutenant governor has decided not to run for a U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
In a statement Sunday to The Associated Press, Republican Kerry Healey says she analyzed a potential race to succeed Kennedy but decided against it.
Healey says a campaign isn’t in the best interest of her family. The 48-year-old and her husband, Sean, have two teenage children.
Healey served as the state’s No. 2 executive from 2003 to 2007 as running mate to former Gov. Mitt Romney.

PA: Many Candidates Jump on Lt. Governor Bandwagon
Last Updated on Tuesday, 8 September 2009 10:42 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 8 September 2009 10:42
From Post-Gazette.com:
Some major political offices, including Pennsylvania governor and U.S. senator, will be up for grabs next year, and a number of candidates are already running or close to declaring.
But oddly enough, what’s attracting the most candidates is the race for lieutenant governor — a job that’s not often seen as a seat of power.
“Some people compare it to being the Maytag repairman,” quipped former Erie County Executive Rick Schenker, who quickly added that he disagrees with that assessment and thinks the job can be influential.
Mr. Schenker is one of five Republicans who have declared their candidacy for the No. 2 spot. The others include Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley, Chester County Commissioner Carole Aichele, York County businessman Steve Johnson and Dauphin County Commissioner Dominic DiFrancesco.

NV: Lt. Governor Tells Veterans’ Stories through Project
Last Updated on Friday, 4 September 2009 09:16 Written by rslcpol Friday, 4 September 2009 09:16
From Nevada Appeal:
Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki says a new project will seek to document the stories of Nevada’s veterans since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
The stories from “Battle Born: Nevada War Stories” will be video and audio taped and posted on the lieutenant governor’s Web site.
“In the almost eight years since the attacks of Sept. 11, American service members have been called to serve multiple tours in a war with at least two fronts,” said Krolicki. “Battle Born will be a respectful and fitting tribute to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines — and their families — who have given so much of themselves.”

MN: Lt. Governor Undecided about Political Future
Last Updated on Friday, 4 September 2009 09:12 Written by rslcpol Friday, 4 September 2009 09:12
From TwinCities.com:
Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau on Thursday said she would make a decision on her political future, including a possible run for governor, in late October.
In June, Molnau said it was unlikely she would run for the office being vacated by Gov. Tim Pawlenty in 2010, but she didn’t rule it out. She said then that she planned to decide her future this summer after discussing her options with her family.
But at an appearance Thursday at the Minnesota State Fair, she said her family has been too busy to meet.
“We’ve just had too big a summer, including six weddings and unfortunately two funerals on weekends. So we haven’t gotten together to discuss it,” she said. She plans to hold a family meeting next month.
Her 87-year-old mother has already voted on whether she should run for governor, Molnau said. “Her vote was ‘hell no.’ ”

South Carolina Republican Legislator Joins Lt. Governor Race
Last Updated on Wednesday, 2 September 2009 03:19 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 2 September 2009 03:19
From GoUpstate.com:
South Carolina’s only black Republican legislator is running for lieutenant governor.
Rep. Tim Scott of North Charleston announced Tuesday he’s entering the race with $150,100 raised in 10 days. The former Charleston County Council chairman said he realizes his run will be unique but argues politics must be about issues, not race.
Scott says he was encouraged to run for statewide office. The entrepreneur says his campaign will focus on serving and recognizing seniors through the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging, job creation and streamlining government.
