GA: Cagle and Richardson – Good Cop, Tough Cop

And right her – as the article states when you read it – is the difference between being a statewide elected official, and a district wide elected official. Sometimes it pays to be the local guy as opposed to the statewide guy. Both Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and House Speaker Glenn Richardson are great state and local leaders – and they’re both serving Georgia very well.

Late in the day, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and House Speaker Glenn Richardson made back-to-back appearances. Cagle, all smiles, was there to reassure. Richardson was not.The lieutenant governor said nothing to make news. The House speaker brought his own video crew to record his attempt to persuade a hostile audience that it’s time to end property taxes.

AZ: Fair and Balanced – More Reporters Moving Into Politics

We don’t think there’s a grand conspiracy afoot, but others do – and that makes for great conversation.

Some political observers, though, bristled about what other baggage Sherwood brought to the job. They saw a former newspaper reporter who wrote thousands of articles about political figures for the East Valley Tribune and The Arizona Republic taking a high-profile job in partisan politics. Specifically, a job with a Democrat.Certain talk radio commentators, bloggers and political insiders proclaimed that Sherwood had finally revealed his true colors, and they wondered whether his purportedly objective news coverage had been similarly colored for all those years as well.

NC: Dem LG’s Pollster Raises Eyebrows

You gotta love the breathlessness of stories like this. Hart Research, or any of their GOP counterparts, wouldn’t last one election if they were anything but 100% ethical in the manner in which they served their clients. But hey, it’s a great headline.

RALEIGH – The State Employees Association of North Carolina hired the polling firm Peter D. Hart Research Associates to survey its members last month about topics that included the candidates for governor. The firm already knew a good bit about one Democratic candidate, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue, since Hart works for her campaign.

MS: Political Shift Towards GOP

And then there was one….looking back, you have to wonder if Jim Hood would be A.G. if it wasn’t for Mike Moore’s key late endorsement back in 2003…

By 2001, only one Republican would be left in charge of an executive department of state government: Phil Bryant. Bryant, now lieutenant governor-elect, had been appointed State Auditor by Fordice in 1996 and was the sole Republican elected to statewide office in 1999.But this year, not only did the Republican Party field competitive candidates for all eight statewide offices, the GOP had incumbents running for re-election in three of them.In January, when Tuesday’s winners are sworn in, there will be only one Democrat among them: Attorney General Jim Hood.

NC: Dem LG Leaves Out Donor Details

Stuff like this is dreamy…if you’re one of Beverly Perdue’s opponents in her campaign for Governor (are you listening Richard Moore, Bill Graham, Bob Orr, and Fred Smith?) you can use this any number of ways? It’s not a home-run by any stretch, but a great process hit that makes her spend her time and effort trying to get compliant while you get to beat her up for not being transparent, or violating the law, or hiding something from the voters of North Carolina….oh the possibilities are limitless! Oh, and even if you don’t read the article, click on Fred Smith’s name above – he got Lee Greenwood to write him a campaign song – slam dunk!

The campaign of Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has failed to collect complete information on more than 300 donors supporting her bid for governor, according to campaign reports. State law requires campaigns to report the occupations and employers of each donor. Those extra details are supposed to give the public more information about a candidate’s supporters, election officials said.

TX: Legislatures Question Transportation Departments Advertising

A good idea by TXDot, but maybe not the best when it looks like you’re using taxpayer dollars to lobby the keepers of the funds…names the state legislature.
