Meacham, who was appointed treasurer in 2005, started the treasurer for 2010 committee after closing out his 2006 election committee with a zero balance. He transferred about $30,000 he carried forward from his 2006 campaign to the 2010 committee, he said.”I don’t know that I’m going to run in 2010 for treasurer or for anything else, for that matter,” said Meacham, a Democrat.

State Auditor Phil Bryant, a Republican, won election over Democratic nominee Rep. Jamie Franks as the state’s next lieutenant governor on a 291-275 vote lead while Republican Delbert Hosemann was named secretary of state after outpolling Democratic nominee Rob Smith 349 votes to 306.

Maybe Governor Blagojevich needs to send his Lieutenant Governor some flowers or something to make nice. Because clearly, these guys are not on the same song sheet right now. Though not overly surprising coming from one Illinois Democrat to another – the state’s Democrat A.G. Lisa Madigan has spent some quality time beating on the Blago pinata of late.
Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn is turning to the Internet in hopes of getting his two-time Democratic running mate, Gov. Blagojevich, to curtail so-called pay-to-play politics.

LITTLE ROCK — Lt. Gov. Bill Halter said Thursday he has submitted a revised version of his ballot proposal for a state lottery to the state attorney general’s office.Halter wants Arkansans to vote on a proposed constitutional amendment to create a state lottery to fund college scholarships. He submitted a version of his proposal to Attorney General Dustin McDaniel in September, but McDaniel rejected it, citing unclear language.
