CO: Democrat Likes Multiple Registrations in Voter Rolls
Last Updated on Thursday, 16 October 2008 11:46 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 16 October 2008 10:25
From 9News:
The office of attorney general John Suthers has sided with Secretary of State Mike Coffman, a fellow Republican, in saying that it’s legal to remove all but the most recent registrations of voters with multiple registrations.
Colorado Democratic chairwoman Pat Waak criticized Suthers’ ruling on Tuesday as partisan and said it was part of “the concerted GOP effort to deny voters their rights.” Suthers sent Waak a letter Wednesday saying that her comments were irresponsible and undermined public confidence in the election.

Voter Fraud in Ohio; Democrat Secretary of State’s Office Hangs up on Radio Show Again
Last Updated on Tuesday, 14 October 2008 10:28 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 14 October 2008 10:26
And from Naugblog, the democrat Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner’s office hangs up during an interview… AGAIN!
From The New York Post:
Investigators probing ACORN have learned that an Ohio man registered to vote several times and cast a bogus ballot with a fake address, officials said yesterday, as they revealed that nearly 4,000 registration applications supplied by the left-leaning activist group were suspect.
The vote of Darnell Nash, one of four people subpoenaed in a probe of ACORN’s voter-registration activities, was canceled and his case was turned over to local prosecutors and law enforcement, Board of Elections officials said yesterday.
Nash had registered to vote repeatedly from an address that belonged to a legitimately registered voter, officials said during a hearing at which the subpoenaed voters were to testify.

ACORN Voter Fraud in the States, and in Indiana
Last Updated on Tuesday, 14 October 2008 10:07 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 14 October 2008 10:07
From the Wall Street Journal:
Then there’s Lake County, Indiana, which has already found more than 2,100 bogus applications among the 5,000 Acorn dumped right before the deadline. “All the signatures looked exactly the same,” said Ruthann Hoagland, of the county election board. Bridgeport, Connecticut estimates about 20% of Acorn’s registrations were faulty. As of July, the city of Houston had rejected or put on hold about 40% of the 27,000 registration cards submitted by Acorn.
That’s just this year. In 2004, four Acorn employees were indicted in Ohio for submitting false voter registrations. In 2005, two Colorado Acorn workers were found to have submitted false registrations. Four Acorn Missouri employees were indicted in 2006; five were found guilty in Washington state in 2007 for filling out registration forms with names from a phone book.

NV: SoS Raids ACORN For Voter Fraud
Last Updated on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 02:08 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 8 October 2008 01:59
Ok, so you’re saying it’s a voter registration organization, the election is right around the corner, and nobody is at the office in the middle of the day? Sound like somebody was tipped off, or just out to lunch? From CBS News:
The raid was initiated by Nevada’s Secretary of State, Ross Miller, after a series of accusations that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also known as ACORN, was submitting voter registration lists to the state that contained false or duplicate names of voters.
“When we got [to the headquarters], no one was there so, there were no arrests,” Secretary of State spokesman Bob Walsh told CBS News. But, he added “agents did seize lots of records.”
CBS News has learned that the state’s investigation is focusing on the conduct of ACORN’s work force. Critics allege that ACORN hires workers “off the street” to sign up new voters, paying them by the number of voters registered – sometimes resulting in false and duplicate names.

Ohio: Giuliani Takes On Democrat Secretary of State
Last Updated on Monday, 6 October 2008 10:21 Written by rslcpol Monday, 6 October 2008 10:21
From Daily-Jeff:
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani joined the continuing chorus of Republican criticism aimed at Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner and her decision to disallow observers from early voting sites.
“The Democratic Party here in Ohio wants to conduct secret balloting in a general election,” the onetime presidential hopeful told an audience near Columbus Saturday afternoon. “You can’t do that. This is part of a general election. The question is, what do they have to hide.”
Giuliani spoke to upward of 200 Republican Party leaders from across the state during a leadership summit, aimed at bolstering campaign efforts entering the final month before the November general election.

AL: Parties Get New Voter Lists
Last Updated on Friday, 3 October 2008 10:17 Written by rslcpol Friday, 3 October 2008 10:17
From The Huntsville Times:
Secretary of State Beth Chapman agreed Thursday to give the Alabama Democratic and Republican parties updated voter lists as part of a settlement reached in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
In an unrelated voting issue, the state’s Administrative Office of Courts has told courthouses statewide that Gov. Bob Riley’s office issued incorrect guidelines on which ex-cons are eligible to vote.
The Democratic Party sued Chapman after she had refused to give the party a second voter list this year, saying that she would have to charge the party 1 cent for each of the state’s more than 2.94 million registered voters on the list, or more than $29,000.

OH: Blog – SoS Rejects Election Observers; Vehicle for Election Fraud?
Last Updated on Thursday, 2 October 2008 09:39 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 2 October 2008 09:39
Ah, but when Obama was asked how we can know the Ohio election won’t be stolen, he answered “it helps in Ohio that we have democrats in charge of the machines.”
From the Nextright:
Early voting is taking place in Ohio. Through the end of the week, people can register and vote on the same day. The Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner argues that they are merely “casting their ballot” rather than “voting” so the fact that Ohio statute requires 30 days between registering and voting would not interfere.
So here is what is happening today. People are showing up to register and vote. There is no affirmative evidence that these people have not registered or voted somewhere else. There is no control. Normally in an election, partisan election monitors are allowed into polling places so that they can police each other. But not in two counties, Franklin and Montgomery, in Ohio.
Brunner also issued an advisory opinion to counties saying that they are not required to allow election monitors. Watch an election observer be turned away.

MN: Media Sues State for Access to Polls
Last Updated on Tuesday, 30 September 2008 11:05 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 30 September 2008 11:05
From oanow.com:
The lawsuit names Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and Attorney General Lori Swanson. It says the plaintiffs contacted the secretary of state’s office earlier this month to urge that they be allowed to conduct exit polling within the 100-foot zone, but were told they could not as long as the law remains in effect. A spokesman for the secretary of state did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
Minnesota is the only state in this election that’s seeking to impose such a restrictive distance requirement, Buckley said.
This lawsuit is the 12th in 10 states to challenge the constitutionality of restrictions affecting exit polling, Buckley said. Courts in all 10 states have ruled that such rules violate the First Amendment.

WA: Dems Sue Candidate for Using “GOP” on Ballot
Last Updated on Wednesday, 24 September 2008 12:24 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 24 September 2008 09:44
If you wanted evidence that Governor’s contest in Washington State was close – look no further friends. According to the state’s top elections official – a candidate may list whatever party name they wish. Salmon Yoga Party anyone? Gee, Democrats… is there not there something else you could be using your time on? Filing lawsuits was a winning strategy in 2004 for Washington Dems – can you blame them for trying again?
From the Seattle Times:
The state Democratic Party filed suit Tuesday in an attempt to force Dino Rossi to list his party preference as “Republican” on the November ballot instead of “GOP Party.”
Democrats say the Iraq War and low approval ratings for President Bush have left the Republican Party a damaged brand and that Rossi is trying to distance himself by using GOP as his affiliation.
Rossi is running against Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire. He lost to Gregoire by 133 votes in the 2004 election, and polls show this race to be close as well.
Polls by Stuart Elway have suggested many people don’t know that GOP and Republican mean the same thing. One recent Elway poll indicated Rossi did better among voters if he used the “GOP” label instead of “Republican.”
