A big day on MSNBC for state Republicans…and when we say a big day, we mean they got the same level of snarkiness that is usually reserved for national Republicans. From Nashville Post Politics:

DeWine to make a Political Comeback… Attorney General Run?
Last Updated on Friday, 6 February 2009 03:10 Written by rslcpol Friday, 6 February 2009 10:18
From the Politico:
“Rob and I are friends, and we’ve talked over the last few months about a lot of things,” DeWine said. ”I’ve got to go through my own assessment.”
DeWine also is considering a campaign for governor against Democrat Ted Strickland — or for the state’s attorney general position.
A recently-released Quinnipiac poll showed DeWine with fairly strong approval ratings: 45 percent of Ohio voters view him favorably, while 23 percent view him unfavorably. He has higher name identification than both Portman and former GOP congressman John Kasich, who is mulling a run for governor.
For you AG watchers out there, keep an eye on this one. A Dewine vs. Cordray match up would be huge in Ohio in ’10. It might put Cordray’s job in Jeopardy.

KY: Dem AG Conway to Run For Senate?
Last Updated on Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:36 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 22 January 2009 12:16
Let the State News Shot be the first – to endorse Democrat A.G. Jack Conway for the Democrat nomination for the U.S. Senate. Though, to be honest, his endorsement is contingent upon his resigning from office to focus his time and energies full time on running for the Democrat nomination. From The Hill:
Mongiardo, who now boasts a bigger profile as the state’s lieutenant governor, is among the leading Democrats considering a bid this year. He said he’ll make a decision by March. He could face a primary against any of three other prominent Democratic candidates — Attorney General Jack Conway, Auditor Crit Luallen and Rep. Ben Chandler.
But the target of each candidate’s early fire is Bunning.
“Kentucky deserves two U.S. senators that are working day and night,” Mongiardo told The Hill. “Sen. Bunning has not even been [in Washington] for votes.”
And who could forget “The Faces of Jack Conway”:

WI: AG Possible Candidate for Governor?
Last Updated on Wednesday, 21 January 2009 03:26 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 21 January 2009 11:26
Here’s a tip…nobody will announce for Governor in 2010 anytime soon…unless they’re a political nobody. From The Daily Cardinal:
In 2006, Walker ran a short campaign before the gubernatorial primaries, but ultimately dropped out due to limited campaign funds. According to wispolitics.com, in the July 2008 campaign finance filings, Walker reported having raised $50,000 for his potential 2010 campaign.
Walker’s office could not be reached for comment.
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is another possibility for the GOP ticket, according to Franklin.
Although it is likely candidates will announce their intentions soon, “any political contest a year out is a great mystery,” Franklin said.
Wisconsin’s Republican A.G. has been at the tip of the spear when it comes to fighting voter fraud. It’s a real issue, and one that won’t go away just because a new POTUS has been sworn in.

Tennessee is Fourth State to Setup as Coalition of Parties
Last Updated on Thursday, 15 January 2009 12:47 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 15 January 2009 12:47
Nashville Post Politics points to a post by The Thicket:
Tennessee becomes the fourth legislative chamber this year to organize on a coalition basis with votes from both sides of the aisle. The other three are the Texas House, where Democrats helped to determine the majority Republican speaker, the Louisiana House in which the Democratic majority elected a Republican speaker (after 2007 elections in that state), and the Alaska Senate where the president was elected with votes from both parties. We don’t have official records of bipartisan coalitions at NCSL, but in our collective staff memories we think that two to four chambers with coalition leadership is fairly typical in any given year.
And then there’s this:

IN AG: Linda Pence Playing Defense (Video)
Last Updated on Friday, 31 October 2008 12:20 Written by rslcpol Friday, 31 October 2008 12:11
We meant to pop this up the other day. This was not the news that Linda Pence wanted going into the last weekend of the campaign. She’s probably praying that the spot reported on here doesn’t do any further damage to her campaign. Note to Linda Pence’s campaign: don’t admit that your candidate made money defending dirt bags. Not good.
