ALBANY — Governor Spitzer confirmed today his administration has received another subpoena from the Albany County district attorney, but refused to say what the prosecutor is seeking.
“That, you’ll have to ask them,” Mr. Spitzer said of the office of District Attorney David Soares. “I have answered all these questions at length and we are cooperating fully.”

NY: AG Sees ‘Other Crimes’ than Perjury Involving Spitzer Aide
Last Updated on Wednesday, 12 December 2007 12:07 Written by rslcpol Wednesday, 12 December 2007 10:38
Remember, Eliot Spitzer ran for Governor, and AG for that matter, as the enforcer – the guy to clean up the mess in Albany. Now, it’s Cuomo’s turn to be that guy – and yes we’re intimating that he’s mulling running for another statewide position in New York in the coming election. Hopefully for A.G. Andrew Cuomo’s sake he doesn’t set and fall into the same traps Spitzer set for himself. What a fall from grace.
Cuomo made the comments during a wide-ranging editorial-board meeting with The Post, in which he was asked whether Albany County DA David Soares could eventually snare former Spitzer spokesman Darren Dopp on a perjury charge.”There are other theories to pursue if [Soares] wanted to pursue them,” Cuomo said. “I don’t know where [Soares is] going, but there are other crimes besides perjury.”

NY: Senate Republicans Fight To Uphold Spitzer Subpoenas
Last Updated on Thursday, 29 November 2007 11:15 Written by rslcpol Thursday, 29 November 2007 11:15
State Senate Republicans are fighting attempts by Gov. Eliot Spitzer to quash subpoenas issued to his administration over whether aides sought to produce damaging documents on Majority Leader Joseph Bruno.
The state Senate Investigations Committee planned to serve Spitzer’s attorneys with hundreds of pages of documents yesterday to rebut claims that information on the alleged plot should not be released to the committee.
State Sen. George Winner, R-Elmira, said the court documents argue that the Spitzer administration has a legal responsibility to release the information and to let aides testify before the panel.

NY: $75 Million Suit Against Dem Spitzer’s Actions As AG
Last Updated on Monday, 19 November 2007 10:09 Written by rslcpol Monday, 19 November 2007 09:59
This story should really creep you out if you’re from New York State. A successful dentist with no prior problems with the state gets dragged into a political fight – the judge in the case throws out everything that’s brought against the dentist, including a weak last ditch effort to prosecute the Doctor for stealing $3,000 from the state – down from their original charge of $1 million. And what’s more – even with the case being thrown out of court, the current Democrat A.G. – Andrew Cuomo – keeps the press releases on the case (generated by Eliot Spitzer’s office) posted on his website. Cuomo had nothing to do with this case – and he tries to get credit – the charges get thrown out of court – and Cuomo keeps the press releases on his website.
November 19, 2007 — A Park Slope dentist has filed a $75 million lawsuit, claiming Eliot Spitzer used the Attorney General’s Office to trump up politically convenient charges of Medicaid fraud against him in 2006.The lawsuit, filed last week in Brooklyn federal court, charges that Spitzer, who in 2006 was the attorney general and the Democratic front-runner in the primary battle for governor, was getting slammed as being soft on Medicaid fraud – and found a convenient fall guy.

NY: Dem Governor Spitzer Throws Former Aide Under Bus
Last Updated on Tuesday, 13 November 2007 10:20 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 13 November 2007 08:50
New York’s Democrat Governor is washing his hands of the whole troopergate affair…we’re sure no one will remember his role. He probably wishes New Yorkers would just get a life, and move on with other scandals that aren’t so focused on him.
Governor Spitzer Monday refused to defend his former top press aide, who may face perjury charges in the Troopergate scandal – opting instead to profess his own innocence.”I had no involvement in this, none whatsoever,” Spitzer said when asked about Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ rekindled probe.

NY: Spitzer’s Flip On Licenses For Illegals
Last Updated on Tuesday, 30 October 2007 01:42 Written by rslcpol Tuesday, 30 October 2007 09:58
In this column, Bill Hammond opines a few things that will make those who follow the life and stylings of Eliot Spitzer chuckle:
1) He says Spitzer the unshakable caved to popular opinion on an issue he’d been on the wrong side of New York and national opinion on
2) He outs Spitzer for flip flopping when Spitzer himself refuses to acknowledge even a shift from his original policy
3) He catches the Democrat governor in a whopper of a fish tale – Spitzer says his plan to give licenses to illegals was approved by the Bush administration and Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff – in truth Chertoff said Federal law allows it, but he does not endorse giving licenses to people in the U.S. illegally
4) He reminds his readers that Spitzer was less than forthcoming on an investigation conducted by New York’s Dem A.G. Andrew Cuomo
5) And finally reaches back to Spitzer’s first for A.G. in New York in ’94 “…when he skirted the law to accept millions in campaign loans from his father and lied to cover that up.”
This column is a must read.
New School President and former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) once described Bill Clinton as “an unusually good liar.” Well, Gov. Spitzer is an unusually bad one.The hedges, half-truths and howlers Spitzer is spouting to explain his U-turn on driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants are fooling no one – except maybe the governor himself.
