Minnesota’s labor unions are split over how to react to organizing efforts by lawyers in Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson’s office.Swanson is resisting the union organizing attempts, saying state law doesn’t permit attorneys working for her to form a union.

The dispute has sparked a series of letters from labor leaders showing disagreement among them. Swanson is the highest D-F-L officeholder in state government and was backed by labor unions during her 2006 campaign.
