Nothing beats slamming on the brakes on a thing like this. Not one candidate wants to come into convention and wind up coming out blamed for a battered final nominee. In cases like this – the Governor has all of the juice.
INDIANAPOLIS – Republicans considering a run for the state attorney general’s post this year are heeding advice from Gov. Mitch Daniels and state GOP officials who have asked for a timeout after Steve Carter’s sudden announcement not to seek re-election.“I am seriously considering it, … but I am taking more of a measured approach,” Secretary of State Todd Rokita said. “The governor has asked that we all take a breath and allow him a chance to weigh in a bit. We’re going to be on his ticket this year, and he certainly has the right to decide who he would like.”
Carter’s Easter announcement has thrown the Hoosier GOP into somewhat of a tizzy.
