So, to sum up: A largely unknown Democrat candidate – who desperately wants to be Attorney General, in the past has flirted with running for Lieutenant Governor, seemingly misinterprets the law to fit his own political purposes. Yes, this is exactly the type of candidate Democrats need running for state office. We think that Democrat perennial A.G. candidate John Morganelli – he ran in 2000 and 2004 – has officially jumped the shark as a candidate, and is now just being used by Pennsylvania Democrats in an attempt to soften up Republican A.G. Tom Corbett. Not to stop Corbett in the ’08 election, but rather with an eye towards the 2010 Governor’s race. From The Morning Call:
HARRISBURG | – Democrat John Morganelli on Tuesday ratcheted up the rhetoric in his bid to unseat state Attorney General Tom Corbett, calling on the Republican to require people to report lost or stolen handguns.

Morganelli said Tuesday that he would give firearms owners 48 to 72 hours to alert authorities after a weapon disappears. The final rules would be determined after public hearings, he said.
