KS: AG Candidate go head to head in debate

The candidates for Kansas attorney general squared off today in a debate sponsored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. Current AG Steve Six and Republican challenger Derek Schmidt took questions ranging from crime to immigration and the two proved they have very different idea beginning with the federal health care law.

“I’m one who thinks we ought to be involved in a legal challenge to the power-grab that is the federal health care law that sets an unprecedented extension of federal authority if that’s allowed to stand,” Schmidt said.

Six disagreed, saying he is first and foremost a prosecutor and not in the office to advance his own agenda.

“Not to long ago we had a career politician in this office, Phil Kline,” Six said. “We have worked tirelessly to recover from the damage that that career politician did.”
