VA: Dem State Senator Announces Run For Governor (Video)

State Sen. Creigh Deeds of Bath County announced his candidacy for governor today, getting an early start on what figures to be a competitive 2009 race.Deeds announced his bid for the Democratic nomination in an online video posted on his new campaign Web site, deedsforvirginia.com. It comes nearly two years before the 2009 election and a month before Gov. Tim Kaine reaches the halfway point of his four-year term.

Guess Mr. Deeds didn’t want to run for attorney general again – and lose – like he did in 2005. We can understand that, but running for Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia isn’t going let him hide from his record of voting to double the gas tax in most of northern Virginia, or raising the night time speed limit for trucks on Virginia highways.
