SALT LAKE CITY – State lawmakers say they have support for a law to lock up certain child sex offenders for at least a quarter of a century.
A news conference is scheduled today at the Capitol on the bill that would make attempted sexual assaults on a child a serious crime punishable by 15 years to life in prison. It would apply to attempted rape, attempted rape with use of an object and attempted sodomy.
