N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper says investigators from his office recovered more than $20 million in Medicaid fraud cases in fiscal 2007.
Cooper’s Medicaid fraud unit investigated 56 cases of alleged fraud or patient abuse between Oct. 1, 2006, and Sept. 30 of this year. In that time, the investigations led to 16 criminal convictions and 10 civil settlements.
