Dem AG Jim Hood doesn’t like the date:
But State Attorney General Jim Hood earlier this week issued an opinion that an election must be held within 100 days of Lott’s seat being vacated. He contends the position must be filled by someone the public elects, rather than an appointee. Barbour’s stance is in disagreement with Hood’s view and Hood said the matter could wind up in court.
