Lawmakers are expected to again debate whether Iowans can sue to recover damages over home repairs, auto sales and other consumer purchases that went sour.
State Rep. Eric Palmer, D-Oskaloosa, said Thursday that he has pre-filed legislation to enact a Consumer Rights Act. Iowa is alone among the 50 states in barring its residents from claiming they were defrauded by companies with they do business.
