Ohio House Republicans lead by Speaker Jon Husted should be getting more praise than this for setting the tone and let Ohio’s citizens save more of their hard earned dollars. The amount here may not be monumental, but there’s a trend and style of thought among Ohio’s GOP legislators that will keep government trim and out of the people’s wallets. Leading by example – nice work.
Although the immediate cut amounts to $87 a year for that family of four, the cut becomes more noticeable when compared to what that family paid in 2004, the year before the first incremental cut took effect. That family would pay a total of $350, or 16.8 percent, less in 2008 than they would have in 2004, translating into $6.73 more in weekly take-home pay.“Ohio’s new withholding rates mean that taxpayers will be keeping a little more of what they earn in their take-home pay this year,” Tax Commissioner Richard A. Levin said.
