Dueling SC LG Polls

I love it when campaigns
release their own internal polls.  I love it even more when dueling
campaign have inexplicably differing polls.

The
first poll released by the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor shows
challenger Robert Barber holding a slight lead over Republican incumbent Andre
Bauer
.

According
to a poll conducted by Alabama-based Anzalone-Liszt, Barber, a Charleston
restaurateur, lobbyist and former state legislator, holds a 44-41 percent lead
over Bauer. The poll's 3.7-percentage-point margin of error makes the race a
statistical dead heat…

But
Bauer supporters questioned those figures, noting their own polling completed
this week showed Bauer holding a 51-39 lead with a 4.4 percent margin of error.

“It's
not true,” said Rod Shealy, Bauer's campaign manager. “That poll is
not accurate, nor is it even close. There's zero chance these polls are 15
points apart.”
