The head of a state agency said Thursday he wants the state attorney general to consider suing a private contractor that mistakenly disclosed the Social Security numbers of 260,000 state Medicaid recipients in a recent mailing.
Department of Health and Family Services Secretary Kevin Hayden said he asked state Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to consider “legal action ” against EDS Corp., of Plano, Texas, for the error.
“The EDS error is egregious and it is important to send a strong message to all contractors and companies that there are real consequences if confidential information is released, ” Hayden said in a statement.
