BOSTON (Reuters) – The lead contractor for Massachusetts’ “Big Dig” tunnel and roadway project is close to reaching a $399 million settlement with the state after a fatal accident in 2006, the Boston Globe reported on Wednesday.Lead contractor Bechtel/Parsons Brinkerhoff is ready to agree to return $399 million to the state while smaller companies would pay $50 million, bringing the total settlement to roughly $450 million, the newspaper reported, citing two unidentified sources who were briefed on the negotiations.
