SACRAMENTO – California voters, usually limited to a choice of one Assembly member and one state senator, get a chance on Feb. 5 to vote on a term-limit change that could determine the political fate of dozens of legislators.Proposition 93 would reduce the total time a legislator can serve from 14 to 12 years, while also allowing 34 legislators who are barred from running for re-election this year to run again.
Among those whose careers could be extended are two powerful leaders: Senate President Pro Tempore Don Perata, D-Oakland, and Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles.
