A Kilpatrick spokesman said the mayor was disappointed, but had not yet decided whether to pursue an appeal to Michigan’s Supreme Court. City Council members urged Kilpatrick to give up the fight. “I think the mayor should be at the end of the road on this one,” Councilman Kwame Kenyatta said. “I think it’s time to abide by the court’s decision and release everything and not spend any more taxpayers’ money on an appeal.
“If it’s something so bad that he doesn’t want to come out, I think he may need to be packing his bags.”

The deposition was ordered as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by the Free Press against the city.
