State, federal and Hillsborough County law enforcement officials have been warning parents for several years about the danger of strangers lurking on the Internet.
Last year, the attorney general’s office published an extensive guide for both parents and children, urging caution online, particularly in chat rooms and social networking sites.
Attorney General Kelly Ayotte also subpoenaed records from MySpace.com showing that some 153 registered sex offenders had set up profiles on the social networking site, before the company set out to identify and delete them.
