Judge Neal Biggers denied all requests made by the Scruggs defense team Tuesday after considering the facts of the case over the weekend.Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, Zach Scruggs and Sidney Backstrom have maintained their innocence in the face of accusations they were involved in a conspiracy to bribe Circuit Judge Henry Lackey.
Timothy Balducci and Stephen Patterson have pleaded guilty to the charges and are cooperating with the government.
With the denial of one of the motions, a key piece of evidence for the prosecution will be allowed into the case.
