Looks like New Hampshire’s Republican A.G. Kelly Ayotte is showing the state’s Democrat Governor how to get tough on internet predators. Maybe other Democrats will follow the Republican lead on this issue as well.
Governor John Lynch and Attorney General Kelly Ayotte are urging New Hampshire lawmakers to support tougher laws against people who use the Internet to prey on children. They testified at a Senate committee hearing on Monday on a proposal that splits the child pornography law into three offenses of possession, distribution and manufacture. Each would carry enhanced penalties for repeat offenders.
Ayotte said a state Supreme Court decision has forced her to scale back the proposal. Under the ruling, the state cannot charge someone with child pornography if the images used were digitally created and did not represent an actual child.
