Republican House Speaker Karen Minnis, one of the hardest
working Speakers in country, has been targeted
by just about every national Democrat leader in the country.
The
woman so reviled by Democrats grew up poor, married young, dotes over two
squirming grandsons and likes to call people “Honey.”…
She
reels off a list of accomplishments for her district: a greater share of money
for east county schools; $1.5 million to fight gangs; $100,000 for an arts
center. More broadly, in 2003, she pushed a package to spare seniors and other
vulnerable Oregonians from budget cuts. Last April, she backed a payday reform
bill — a move that outraged more conservative members of her caucus.
Find out what else is
in the spotlight on her race.
