Hood handed out $800,000 Wednesday in Jackson to 20 clubs, with amounts based on the number of children each serves. Sam Burke, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast, drove home with the largest single check – $133,290.60.”We’ve been waiting for these dollars,” Burke said. “The bottom line is it allows us to continue to provide services to more children, so we’re very pleased.”
