NJ: GOP Senator Battles State Officials Pension Abuse

We think there was a T.V. show about politically connected people lining their pockets – being on the take if you will. What was the name of that show about folks in New Jersey?

Sen. Bill Baroni (R-14) said yesterday he wants to end what he calls “some of the worst pension padding practices in New Jersey” and thus save state taxpayers a load of dough.“Millions of dollars,” he said, “can be saved by ending this abuse of the pension system.”The padding occurs when politically connected people are appointed to various state licensing boards and then get paid just enough to qualify for state pensions, according to the Hamilton Township lawmaker.

“These are difficult times for New Jersey and a difficult time for the state budget, and we need to be looking for ways to save the taxpayer money,” Baroni told The Trentonian. “The governor can, by the stroke of his pen, stop this pension padding.”
