Claraliene Gordon told a judge she stole more than $1,000 as president of the Camden Education Association from September 2000 to August 2006. The state is to recommend she pay restitution of $3,000 under a plea agreement.
An investigation showed that Gordon, 66, used union money to gamble “on numerous occasions” at Atlantic City casinos, Attorney General Anne Milgram said in a statement.
Authorities estimated the amount of stolen funds at about $15,000 when Gordon was indicted in November.
Gordon, who now lives in Fayetteville, N.C., previously repaid almost $7,500 in “misappropriated funds” after being confronted by union officials, Milgram said. However, she failed to repay the entire amount charged for personal use.
