DE: Republican State Rep Decides Against Run For Governor

Rep. Donna Stone, R-Dover South, has told Republican State Committee Chairman Terry Strine she will not run for the office.

Stone, who was not immediately available for comment, has served in the Legislature since 1994 and would be a “great governor,” Strine said. Strine and other party officials earlier pinned their hopes on former Happy Harry’s CEO Alan Levin, who announced in January that he would not run. Retired Superior Court Judge Bill Lee also declined to run.

The party has no other potential candidates, Strine said, except the two men who already are running — Dave Graham of Kenton and Mike Protack of Hockessin. Both lost to Lee in the 2004 primary.
