JACKSON – Attorney General Jim Hood said Thursday he will ask a court to stop a funeral home from performing cremations while his office investigates claims that the owner mishandled human remains.
Mark Seepe, owner of Seepe Funeral Home and Crematorium, has come under scrutiny following claims he allegedly commingled bone fragments from cremations, dumped partially cremated remains in a trash bin outside the business and gave the wrong remains to relatives of the dead.Seepe has not responded to numerous messages left by The Associated Press.
Hood said he was seeking the court injunction at the request of the state Board of Funeral Service, whose members earlier in the day heard concerns raised by dozens of people about the nature of the cremated remains returned to them by the funeral home.
