With Democrats still fighting over ethics reform, Republicans jumped into the breach Monday with a 26-page ethics amendment in an attempt to force a vote as early as this week.
The Republicans will offer the amendment if the Democrats, who control the House and Senate, fail to reach an agreement on highly controversial issues such as pension revocation and whether lawmakers should be charged with a crime if they witness a bribe.
Democrats and Republicans have blamed each other for why a supposed agreement on ethics reform blew up last week. But House Speaker James Amann said the reason is simple.
