Ohio – The Land of Milk and Money?

Silence was golden for the Ohio Lottery Commission on Monday as a joint legislative oversight committee found no issue with the agency starting keno games in bars and restaurants as early as July.

The Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review was perhaps the last hurdle as Gov. Ted Strickland moves to make the games available in about 2,000 new locations.

State Sen. Ron Amstutz, R-Wooster, has introduced legislation to kill keno in Ohio, but the bill appears to be stalled.

JCARR is a little-known committee responsible for reviewing the governor’s policies to ensure executive rules do not conflict with law or legislative intent.

Strickland’s administration also received the green light Monday to permanently impose stricter labeling standards on dairy
products.
