From The Post & Mail:
One of the Republican candidates for Indiana’s attorney general stopped by Columbia City on Monday morning for a quick roundtable discussion with local delegates and fellow Republicans.
Jon Costas, now mayor of Valparaiso, told local Republicans — including Gene Heckman, Bill Overdeer, Dave Heritier, county chair Jim Banks and others — that although he faces a tough Democratic opponent this fall in Linda Pence, but he feels his history of service will take him to victory.
“We’ve done some pretty progressive things there,” Costas said of his five years as mayor of Valpo.
Some of those initiatives included getting state and federal aid for local road improvements and ensuring the local transportation system is up to par.
“We need to think differently about getting from point A to B,” he said.
He said the system has high ridership, especially for college students and foreign exchange students.
Many are suggesting that unless Costas picks up the nod at the convention, Mitch will go into November with very little support in Northern Indiana. All the other candidates for the other state offices being from the south.
It’s probably time that Mitch step up and say who he wants.
