We’re not kidding.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann, under pressure from both parties to resign over sexual harassment by an aide and his own extramarital affair, tried to cut a deal Tuesday to leave office but failed, according to lawmakers.
The Democrat offered to step down if lawmakers delayed a planned investigation into his scandal-plagued office by 90 days, Democratic Rep. Robert Hagan and a spokeswoman for Republican Senate President Bill Harris said.
This whole episode just gets weirder and weirder every day. Each side jockeying for political gain, and it’s Ohio Democrats with the most to lose – after all they’re the ones who set Marc Dann up to be AG in ’06. And they’re the one’s who knew not only exactly what they were getting, but also exactly what they had after he took office.
Dorfman’s is digging in his heels for battle here…and it’s going to be interesting to see just what his final exit strategy is going to be. Looks like the Dann political team is going to be earning its money this quarter.
Somewhere in Columbus – there’s an office with plastic covering the floor and all of the furniture.
P.S. There’s a song about Marc Dann’s party pad...the Wall Street Journal Law Blog is all over the story…at this late hour nobody else is on the story, but we expect OH bloggers and journalists to be on point soon.
P.S.II The Plain Dealer just got their story online.
