I Wanted to put some space around his name because I wanted it to stand out. Mark Foley…..

According to Wikipedia, Mark Adam Foley was and American Politician who served as a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 until 2006. He was once know as a crusader against child abuse and exploitation but resigned from Congress on September 29, 2006 after allegations surfaced that he had sent suggestive emails and sexually explicit instant messages to teen aged boys who formerly served and were at the time serving as Congressional Pages. Why would he just up and resign? He didn’t even put up a fight! He just resigned. If I was innocent, I would not go down without fighting back…….WOULD YOU????

Alrighty then!!!! Let’s take a look for a moment about Mark Foley’s role the the Adam Walsh act (also known as the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act).

This is an exert (a snipet) from Foley’s own mouth when presenting the Adam Walsh Act before congress:

Mr. Speaker, as Co-chairman of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children’s Caucus and author of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and the Internet Safety Act contained in this bill, I rise to offer my strong support for the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act and urge my colleagues to vote for it.

Over two years ago, John Walsh and Ernie Allen approached me at a missing children’s conference I was hosting in Florida to discuss what they saw as a growing and dangerous threat to our children–sex offenders. We talked about the fact that there were over 500,000 sex offenders listed on the various state registries but, that because of the patchwork of federal laws on the books, we were missing over 150,000 of them. I also discovered–which was even more surprising to me–that there is a 200,000 person difference between all of the state registries and the federal National Sex Offender Registry. Soon after that meeting, I began work on the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act which is contained in the measure we have before us today.

The Adam Walsh Act is arguably the most comprehensive piece of child protection legislation that Congress has ever considered. The bill creates, among other things, new state and federal registration and community notification requirements, as well as new federal criminal penalties, for sex offenders. It also gives law enforcement new resources including: authorizing the U.S. Marshals to go after absconded sex offenders; 20 new Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces; 200 new federal prosecutors for prosecuting child sex offense; and, 45 new computer forensic scientists dedicated to investigating crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children and related offenses.

One of the basic tenets of the Due Process Clause is to give criminal suspects notice. So, for those pedophiles and predators across this country that have harmed a child or are considering harming a child let me tell you now that you are on notice. We will find you, prosecute you and monitor you–in some cases, for the rest of your life. Your days in the shadows are over and our children will no longer be your prey.

Did you see that last paragraph? Due Process?

So….my guess is that Foley KNEW what kind of problems this law was going to create. I guess if I authored legislation like this, knowing it was going to violate my constitutional rights and knowing how the public would view my actions….I would have resigned just like Mark Foley did and then run and HIDE!!!!

Let’s listen in again at what Foley said on camera about sex offenders…….

Foley says……”if you violate a child you loose your civil liberties”. So that’s why you didn’t fight….you knew you would loose your civil liberties……

So taking away a persons rights was your design all along.

The only thing Foley didn’t foresee was his own actions would be found out!!

The WashingtonPost.com reported that: Six-Term Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla) resigned yesterday amid reports that he had sent sexually explicit Internet messages to at least one underage male former page. Guess Foley did not want to be labeled a SEX OFFENDER.

Knowing the utter consequences of his new piece of legislation, I guess I wouldn’t either!! And Foley, out of all the politicians, knew exactly what would happen to him if he was convicted of this alleged deeds.

Here is a quote from Foley mentioned in the the WashingtonPost.com article:

“I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent.”

Maybe you should be deeply sorry for drafting a law that would cost this country MILLIONS OF DOLLARS and takes away the rights of those people who have already completed their sentences.

Maybe you should be deeply sorry for pretending to be looking out for the safety of children, when you were (allegedly) sending sexually explicit internet messages to at least one underage male former page.

Maybe you should be deeply sorry for the harm you have caused the children of Registered Sex Offenders by making these children “Fatherless in their own home” due to the residency restrictions these new laws have spawned!

Maybe you should be deeply sorry for causing the American People to FEAR NEEDLESSLY because the legislation you co-authored did not tell the truth about the extremely low recidivism rate the concerns the sex offender issue. See Department of Justice Statistics HERE.

Maybe you should be deeply sorry for interfering with trained professionals while they are working so very hard to stop this epidemic and help heal the perpetrator and family so this kind of crime is not repeated. See “We Must Listen To The Voice of the Experts”

Did you not know that treatment is mandatory for this kind of crime!

But we know something……

We know that Mark Foley got together with John Walsh and created the most elaborate scheme to create a federal law that does nothing except create FEAR!!!

It violate civil liberties!

It causes homelessness of former sex offenders due to prejudice.

It puts the otherwise treatable sex offender back in prison for the slightest violation and the American People have to foot the bill while the offender is incarcerated.

Would you buy a used car from this man…..Ok then, how about letting him babysit your kids? NO??…Why not….he got a bill passed into law that will protect your children…
