From the News-Leader.com:
Republicans wearing stickers dubbing themselves members of the “old right” couldn’t get enough votes to adopt a fair tax. The effort was led in part by delegates from the 7th District in southwest Missouri.
“The system we have now is broken and we need to at least try something different,” said Jordan Hamilton, a Jasper County convention delegate.
Many of the same Republicans also sought to get rules changed to award presidential delegates to renegade candidate Ron Paul, who held a rally in town Friday night as the convention got under way at the Chateau on the Lake hotel and convention center on Table Rock Lake.
“We definitely are trying to get the party’s attention,” said Michael Halpin of Springfield.
