From the Connecticut Post:
Blumenthal, stressing that prices here are now the highest in the nation, wants lawmakers to authorize a “thorough” analysis of state markets and ban oil companies from prohibiting cash discounts that could save consumers up to 20 cents per gallon. But Speaker of the House James A. Amann said Monday that Blumenthal doesn’t need the Legislature to do his job investigating the oil industry and protecting consumers.
Amann, D-Milford, said it’s unlikely that the issue will make the agenda when lawmakers return June 11 to extend the tax on real estate transactions that towns and cities are depending on for $40 million during the fiscal year that starts July 1.
