Former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro told Ohio GOP leaders this weekend that he won’t run for the AG office in November.
Petro, of Rocky River, told Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett that he won’t run because if he were elected AG, it would constitute his second and final term, preventing him from seeking re-election as AG in 2010.
Petro says he is mulling a possible bid for Ohio Supreme Court chief justice in 2010, when current chief justice Thomas J. Moyer must retire.
Petro, a Republican, stepped down in December 2006 after he lost his gubernatorial bid to Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland.
