Missouri Democrat breaking new ground…actually, not really. But, hey it’s better than singing for votes. From the Joplin Globe:
Democrats running for attorney general are proposing tougher penalties for price markups in natural disasters, investigations of “hot gas” and a civil and disability rights division.
Margaret Donnelly wants to make it a more-serious felony — bringing up to seven years in prison — to unfairly increase prices for necessary products and services or to defraud consumers during a natural disaster.
Jeff Harris has pledged to investigate whether oil companies are breaking state laws by selling “hot gas” and called for legislation requiring temperature-control devices. Gasoline has less energy at higher temperatures than when it’s cooler.
