Looks like Chris Koster’s inability to pick a position and stick with it has forced the major papers in Missouri to pick a position on the state’s Democrat primary – and it’s not Koster. The KC Star endorsement is big news – they are/were solid Koster supporters.
From Kansascity.com:
The Democratic primary for attorney general is possibly the hottest race in Missouri. Three talented candidates are vying to face off in November against Sen. Mike Gibbons, a Republican with no primary opposition.
Sen. Chris Koster of Raymore is a Republican-turned-Democrat who has been an effective defender of stem cell research and some other issues important to this region.
But his efforts to take away local communities’ right to regulate hog farm locations has been disappointing.
Rep. Margaret Donnelly, a St. Louis House member, has been knowledgeable on foster care legislation and a true champion of open meetings in government.
The Star’s choice in this race, however, is Rep. Jeff Harris, of Columbia, who has the best credentials to take to the chief law enforcement officer’s position.
He’s been the Democrats’ leader in the Missouri House and once led a unit of the attorney general’s office under Jay Nixon, who is now seeking the governor’s office.
A fourth Democratic candidate is Molly Williams of Kansas City, who is running well under the radar compared to the other three.
