Missouri Election Legislative Wrap Up

Republican David Pearce moved on to the general election in the state Senate race to replace Chris Koster, and House candidate Jason Kander dominated his wide-open Democratic primary.

Kander was one of five area Democratic nominees for the House who will be planning for office because they will have no Republican opposition in November.

31st District

Pearce, a state representative, beat former state Rep. Rex Rector to gain the Republican nod in the race for Koster’s vacated Senate seat.

Pearce earned 6,264 votes to Rector’s 5,071 in final, unofficial totals to move on to the general election against Democrat Chris Benjamin, who was unopposed in his primary election.

Koster, who won the seat as a Republican, departed as a Democrat and is running for state attorney general.

Pearce, of Warrensburg, has served the 121st House District for three terms. Rector, of Harrisonville, served three terms as the 124th House District representative.
