From International Business Times:
Edmondson sued in 2005 to prevent 13 Arkansas poultry companies from disposing chicken waste in the Illinois River watershed in northeastern Oklahoma. The lawsuit claims the waste is polluting the water, while attorneys for the poultry companies have said bacterial levels in the watershed haven’t changed in 20 years.
Edmondson, who spoke Tuesday at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health, said the case is set to go to trial next September. His current term expires in 2010, and Edmondson said he is “leaning” toward a run for the governor’s office after that.
“We will have it tried or settled during this term,” Edmondson said. “That’s not to say there may be appeals.”
