From the Leaf Chronicle:
State Sen. Rosalind Kurita has filed paperwork to become a write-in candidate in November’s election, days after the state Democratic Party executive committee invalidated her August primary win over Tim Barnes.
“My people in my counties deserve to be able to elect their own senator,” Kurita said. “The fact is, they elected me, and I’m not going to quit on them.”
Monday was the last day to file write-in applications. State party elders ruled this weekend that August’s election results, certified by election commissions in each of District 22’s three counties, were “incurably uncertain.”
According to election results, Kurita received a 19-vote majority out of more than 8,930 voters. She won a majority of voters only in Cheatham County; Barnes carried Montgomery and Houston counties.
